Norfloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic. Like other fluoroquinolones, Norfloxacin works by inhibiting the activity of enzymes called DNA-gyrase. This enzyme is essential for the DNA replication. Inhibiting DNA reproduction makes microorganisms inviable . Norfloxacin contains Flour atom that expands the spectrum of the antibacterial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Norfloxacin possesses the express activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Indications: Nolicin is used to treat infections caused by sensitive to Norfloxacin microorganisms that may include: Gonococcic infections(urethritis and cervicitis) Urinary tract infections(Pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis) Gastrointestinal infections caused by Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Yersinia enterocolitica, Campylobacter jejuni, E.coli, Vibrio cholerae). Norfloxacin is highly effective against acute gastroenteritis.
